My appointment started at the scheduled time (a rarity in Miami!) and the hygienist was thorough yet gentle as always. Dr. Nelson identified the cause of my tooth pain, explained it in an understandable manner, and created a treatment plan that I was easily able to schedule while still in the office. While various add-on services and treatments are always presented for purchase during appointments, I appreciate the ability to decline and not feel a “hard-sell” of the office trying to sell me things I do not need.

As usually, my vist at Dr. Nelson’s office is always top notch. From the moment you step into the office, you are greeted by the friendly workers in the front with a smile. The office is always clean and comfortable. My dental hygienist Angie, was excellent and very skillful. She made me feel very comfortable, I almost fell asleep in the chair. I like that she noticed I needed a periodontal examination which tells how deep the pockets are in my gums. If you’ve never gotten one, ask for one. It is very important to flosh daily. Doctor Nelson, as always, was very attentive and kind. Everyone in the office is fantastic.

I had a few fillings and cleanings done here, was pretty scared when he brought out the needle for the numbing agent however the pain was minimal – if you need any complex dental work I would highly recommend you get it done here as Dr.Nelson is an patient and knowledgeable dentist.He’s also taken care of a loved one with complex issues dental wise – they reported the same as above.

From the time you phone or enter the office, you will immediately know that you have made the right choice in investigating or visiting Midtown Dental. Dr. Nelson is very knowledgeable, professional, warm, personable, and courteous. Once thorough exrays and the assessment is complete, Dr. Nelson is very clear in explaining the needs and offering a “plan of attact”. Personally, I drive 300 miles from Central Florida to visit Dr. Nelson and Midtown. I’ve not regretted a single mile.

I was referred to Midtown Dental Miami from a coworker/ friend of mine who told it was the most thorough exam he’s ever had in his life and that I should go. I am SoOoo glad I took his advice!! It’s been almost two years since I’d had a dental visit (COVID and whatnot) and it was LEGIT THE MOST thorough exam and cleaning I’ve EVER had, including and surpassing when I got braces in NYC. The amount of detail, the thorough explanations, the cleaning itself…. From the front desk, to my first encounter w Karina to get my info, to Dr. Nelson coming in and breaking everything down going on in my mouth in the friendliest and most informative way, to the amazing Nikki who Cuh-Leeeeaned my teeth and gums, to the wonderfully nice lady who explained the billing process…. It was a fantastic experience! Everybody is uber-friendly, informed, nonjudgmental, knowledgeable, and just very pleasant. Even the music is amazing!! (Yasss, Whitney!!) Highly, HIGHLY recommended. I can’t wait to come back for my deep clean follow-up next month. This was ThE best Dentist experience I’ve ever had. They rock. I am recommending them to everybody. Midtown Dental in Miami is first in class. Every visit is met with a smile and professional courtesy. This office is punctual (a plus) and service is impeccable. Lenny (hygienist) is amazing. Her bedside manners are second to none. Based on prior dental experiences I was expecting my cleaning to be rough and painful. It was quite the contrary. She was able to do the job without me having to say “it hurts” one time. Dr. Nelson has been attentive and very responsive and shown he cares for his patients. He has the best hygienist who take the time in cleaning your teeth & they’re not rushed for time, and will take however long it takes to give you the best clean. I arrived 5 minutes early and was taken in almost immediately I did not sit in the chair forever waiting for someone to come in. Instead, I was being attended to right away. The office staff are the most courteous I’ve encountered yet. My dentist, Dr Nelson showed professionalism, concern and was very pleasant when speaking to me. He spent ample time explaining what needed to be done and why. He was very thorough with his explanation and answered any and all my questions. Lets face it, no one really wants to go to the dentist but, if you’re going to go, this dental office is definately the place to go.

I have always hated going to the dentist because of not trusting them and their staff. But this place is awesome, the staff is very professional and so friendly. The office is very clean and organized. Waiting time is great not long waits (but if they are busy, please be patient because they are working very hard to service patients accurately, so they can focus on you and also have your experience pleasant also). Also, they have state of the art technology to diagnose your issue and equipment also. Pricing is reasonable and they are willing to work with you. The dentist himself is awesome, he is very nice and knowledgeable. The biggest plus is , he will make you feel comfortable and will not leave you pain while he is working on your teeth. Truly recommend going here best dentist in south florida I have ever been to.

I had a really great experience with Cal Dental today and I would HIGHLY recommend this place!! I had a regular teeth cleaning and fillings done with no pain at all. I ALWAYS had bad experiences going to the dentist at other places, but DR. Nelson and his assistants were so nice and made me feel comfortable and also did a great job! He also is a very funny guy like everyone else says about him. I would Definitely come back!

This alone speaks volumes of the practice Dr. Nelson has established. During the visit, I had a routine cleaning which went flawlessly. After the cleaning, Dr. Nelson sat with me and asked me about my general oral health. After, he then made small talk. he’s a genuinely nice man who cares about his patients and is passionate about the work he does. This is the story of me being “That One”! So I called their office because a colleague had just visited them and she liked them, but most importantly, she and I had the same insurance so I knew they would be a provider (though I didn’t even know my Dental insurances name!). Well I’m not thinking and I’m in pain because my nerve was exposed, I called their after hours and Doctor directly ((and even though he was talking to a total stranger he was kind and helpful)… As for me, So much for 1st impressions– I said I was coming the next day, I didn’t come. Sigh, everyone knew who I was when I arrived –so embarrassing! Even when I finally made an appointment I gave them my colleague’s name and told them to look up her insurance! Who does that! I’m supposed to be a role model! — I blame it on the pain! Alas, they worked with me (cra cra) despite my uniqueness–Anyway, I digress, As a generation X-er I watch Millenials with a keen eye and I’m usually very impressed. In any organization corporation or small business, the leadership sets the tone for the staff. I loved the professional high tech attention to detail with my treatment, the Dentist is a high level professional and provided impeccable service. From the moment you make contact with them, even before walking in the door, you can be assured that the staff and Dentist will be professional consistent and will provide excellent service. There is an old saying “people with class pay attention to detail”, with a Dentist that’s just what you need. I left feeling well served, well treated and well informed. Miami is a mixed bag, the diversity in the staff and the patients was really cool to see as well…. Who says you have to move to Atlanta or DC to find top professionals? Everyone was so professional, made eye contact smiled, maintained a professional demeanor and went above and beyond, (which for Miami is unusual I’ll admit)…I’m thinking this is the start of a great dental and professional relationship. Oh and I loved the office too; again… Attention to detail: very clean, very modern yet comfortable, with the latest technological equipment. The patients in the lobby looked like the rainbow coalition; that says a lot in and of itself… Ok I’m done (because I could go on and on and on)!

Having an emergency on the weekend, I choose Midtown Dental because they were open on Saturdays and have good reviews. Dr. Nelson was there to consult me, and after few XRays gave me a comprehensive plan of action and an estimate for the. He was very gently and professional. In less than two hours I had my root canal done with no pain. I will recommend this doctor, he and his staff were nice and polite.

The highest compliment I can pay Dr Nelson, is I trust him— when he suggests a proceedure it is because I need it. His incredibly beautiful assistant Judy is always competent and smiling. As always, An amazing experience. On Friday, a temporary cap fell out and I came in first thing Monday morning, unannounced. Dr. John Nelson went straight to work of reattaching and did a fantastic job. We then discussed my optons for a permanent crown. He took the time to explain each one of my options and did not rush me until all my questions were answered. I had an overall great experience at Midtown Dental Miami. I was attended quickly on my visit. It had been 33 months since my last visit to the dentist, so there was a lot of work to be done. During the course of my three-hour visit I got a thorough cleaning and two fillings. Even though I was sore for the rest of the day (simply due to the nature of my treatment, nothing against the personnel), I’m happy that I was finally able to take care of this important check-up.

Midtown Dental Miami is phenomenal! Dr. Nelson and his staff are so friendly, on time, and efficient. I have had cavities, crowns, cleanings, and more and have been to the office many times. Each time, they have been thorough with my exams and visits. They spend their time with me to make sure I am comfortable before any procedure and always make sure I understand everything before it is done or before I leave. Also, I travel almost 3 hours to come see Dr. Nelson. I can assure you it is worth the trip. I have never met a Dentist and staff who are as caring and professional as Midtown Dental Miami.

So far so good. Went to Mid-Town dental after years of not seeing a dentist. Obviously there was a lot of work to be done. The folks there provided me with a plan and i am about half way through all of the treatments. Yesterday i went to get cavities filled. They did this painlessly and also restored stains that had accumulated over the years from the teeth in the area they were working on. Looks and feels great.

On my second visit to Midtown Dental yesterday, I had two teeth extracted. I’m a tremendous baby and was terrified at the prospect, but Dr. Nelson and his assistant explained the process to me, answered all my questions, and made sure I was comfortable (even letting my boyfriend stay in the room while they worked so I wouldn’t have a complete breakdown). The extraction itself lasted less than five minutes–I was astounded! I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort. Such a relief. I was sent home happy and with detailed post-op instructions. Most incredibly, I’ve felt zero pain (!!!) since, and have had no swelling. Wonderful experience. Bonus: spotless, modern facilities; kind, courteous, professional doctor and staff.

Anytime you select a medical or dental professional, the most important thing to consider is trust. I went to Dr Nelson because several years ago I went to him and he filled a tooth which any other dentist would have extracted—– this time I went to Dr Nelson over a missing filling which another dentist told me would require and extraction and bridge for a grand total of over $2000. Dr Nelson attempted to drill and fill, however he discovered the cavity extended below the gum line and a filling could not seal the tooth—— so—— extraction and bridge—– however, I trust Dr Nelson implicitly and I cannot imagine going to any other dentist for serious work.

I just moved and I had the best hygienist in the world, so my 4 rating has to do with that part of my experience. Dr Nelson is one of the few dentists I have known that I have implicit trust in. I came to Dr Nelson because another dentist told me I needed an extraction and bridge merely by reading xrays— Dr Nelson drilled the cavity and then only after considerable hands on work, determined that part of the cavity was below the gum line and that a filling would be unable seal— I still need an extraction and bridge, however, at this point I am satisfied that is the only course of action and feel much better about spending the money. I might also say all of Dr Nelson’s staff are friendly and professional.
